Job Description:
Silver Creek Orchards is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist in managing our Orchard and Vineyard operation, which spans approximately 200 acres of fresh apples and 100 acres of wine grapes. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about agriculture and eager to contribute to a dynamic farming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Pest and Disease Monitoring: Scout vineyards and orchards for insects and diseases to ensure the health of our crops.
• Irrigation Management: Assist with irrigation practices to optimize water usage and promote healthy growth.
• Spray Program Support: Collaborate in the implementation of spray programs for pest and disease control.
• Harvest Assistance: Provide support during the harvest season to ensure timely and picking of crops.
• Nutrient Management: Help with fertilizer and lime recommendations to enhance soil quality and plant health.
• Apple Nursery Support: Assist in the management and care of the apple nursery.
• Weed Management: Scout for weed problems and contribute to the herbicide program to maintain crop integrity.
• Sales Assistance: Support efforts in the sale of apples and grapes, helping to expand our market presence.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Orchard or vineyard experience is required. Familiarity with the various aspects of farming operations is highly beneficial.
• Education: A completion of a four-year degree is a bonus but not a necessity. A degree in Horticulture, Business, or a related field is a plus.
Compensation: Compensation will be based on experience, and health insurance benefits are included.
