Job Description:

The Manager, Bulk Wine and Regulatory Compliance is an integral member of the legal team, providing input and sound counsel to the other members of the compliance department and to senior Duckhorn personnel with respect to compliance related to COLAs, labels, management and movement of bulk wine, reporting, or production related licensing. This role assists and supports senior Legal and Finance personnel with compliance related excise tax processes/practices and bond/taxpaid movements. This role reviews and interprets state and federal regulations helping propel new innovation to market and assist in ensuring The Duckhorn Portfolio stays on top in an ever-changing Regulatory landscape. They report to the Director, Regulatory Compliance is instrumental to the business needs of Grape to Bottle Regulatory Compliance. They demonstrate integrity above reproach, with the ability to think creatively, strategically, and critically to present and implement optimal solutions while being highly detail oriented and organized. They must have a high level of written and oral communication, treating all internal and external clients with the utmost respect.
What we will ask you to do:
• Specialize in and serve as point of contact for all label compliance including using internal processes for compliance pre-approval of romantic copy and labels, submission of COLAs, managing COLA history for entire portfolio, approving all label proofs attaching the approved COLA number, as well as researching any label related compliance questions including research on potential new innovation.
• Manage all compliance bottling approval requests from the brand winemaking teams, using Bottling Production Orders in NAV to monitor and complete approvals ensuring the highest level of label integrity.
• Oversee TTB reporting for twelve production sites guaranteeing accuracy and timely submission.
• Assist Director, Regulatory Compliance on all special projects, Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategy related projects.
• Work hand in hand with Director, Regulatory Compliance on all new and existing TTB and California ABC applications for Wine Premises. Assists with updates for all current licensed premises.
• Responsible for all CA ABC Annual Reporting and manage renewals of all California ABC licenses working with Director, Regulatory Compliance on overall license strategy.
• Manage Deputy Weighmasters list and associated license updates with the State of California.
• Prepare and conduct training programs to educate the broader production team including: Training for New Winery as it enters the Portfolio, Weigh Tag Training, and annual Pre-Harvest Training.
• Respond to inquiries regarding all things Grape to Bottle Regulatory Compliance including, but limited not to bulk wine movements, BOL advisement, COLA Waivers, imported samples, import documentation, wine tracking, and federal reporting.
What you will need:
• 5 to 10 years of related experience; wine compliance or wine production background preferred.
• Background in or knowledge of alcoholic beverage regulations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to think critically and problem solve.
• Excellent written and oral communication including ability to be a representative and exhibit the values of Duckhorn Wine Company to federal and state agencies.
• Strong attention to detail, work ethic, reliability and responsiveness.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and lead projects.
• Positive attitude and demonstrated customer service skillset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Experience NAV a plus.
