Vineyard & Farm Manager (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

This full-time position has full responsibility for the smooth and chaos free running of the vineyard and farm (including Lavender Farm). By doing so, this position will ensure the crops and grounds are well maintained to provide healthy fruit for harvest and tidy and well maintained grounds for the enjoyment of our customers and team members.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Organizing and optimizing efficiency of vineyard/harvest staff and assigning daily tasks and setting ongoing goals

·         Interview and hire farm and vineyard labor to ensure adequate staffing

·         Maintaining effective and timely communication with management, employees, and vendors/contractors

·         Monthly reviewing and reporting of spending ensuring all funds spent are done so in a cost effective manner

·         Providing proper safety training and personal protective equipment training for all vineyard staff

·         Designing effective spray program and ensuring that all applications meet safety standards

·         Performing all vineyard supplies and plant purchasing and maintains inventory records

·         Recording activity and maintaining logs for vine growth, weather patterns, pest/disease control, nutrient applications, crop assessments, grape weights, etc.

·         Coordinating with independent growers on maintenance of grapes and organizing contracts

·         Adhering to operations budget

·         Staying on industry trends, evaluating and recommending new grape varietals, growing trends/techniques and technologies

·         Assisting with other property tasks when needed (assisting with farm animals when needed, etc.)

·         Maintain wine inventory including transporting wine from production facility

·         Perform and/or manage repairs and maintenance at the farm and vineyard

·         Repairing vineyard equipment and conducting preventative maintenance on equipment such as tractors, tools, vehicles, etc.

·         Must be able to manage/perform multiple tasks

 

Must have a spray applicator’s license and high school diploma. College degree preferred.
