JOB TITLE: Winery & Vineyard General Manager
SUMMARY:
Plan, direct, coordinate, and execute all operations of the winery and vineyard. Duties and
responsibilities include but are not limited to formulating policies, managing daily operations and
planning the use of materials and products. Because of its diversity and generality in nature, this
position cannot be classified in any one functional area of management or administration such as
personnel, purchasing, or administrative services.
PURPOSE:
- Develop and operate a profitable winery business
- Develop a meaningful wine brand and build brand equity
SCOPE:
- Directly responsible for all aspects of the company's business
- Reports directly to the company's owner
- This is a hands on position with respect to business planning, sales management, marketing planning, distribution development -- in direct conjunction with business owner
- Oversees winery and vineyard operations and development, tasting room activities and development, event coordination, and administrative and accounting functions
POSITION FUNCTIONS:

GENERAL MANAGEMENT
- Manage with respect to the bottom line and achievement of the corporate purpose and goals
- Communicate openly and honestly with ownership
- Be an advocate for the brand and a prominent public presence for the company
- Develop and propose budgets consistent with corporate goals and purpose. --Gain ownership approval and operate consistently with approved budgets
- Ability to recruit, hire, evaluate, develop, and/or terminate direct reports if needed
- Supervise direct reports and interact with other associates honestly and in a fashion that promotes the achievement of corporate purpose and goals
- Qualify and select vendors -- enter into contracts for company operations as contemplated in approved budgets
DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT MARKETING PLANS
- Evaluate and determine the target market
- Review and recommend product price points
- Review and recommend sales channels
- Review, refine, and redevelop product package
- Develop marketing materials and a plan for use
OVERSEE DIRECT MARKING AND SALES
- Tasting room/event staff
- Events
- Website development and maintenance
BUSINESS PLANNING
- Develop business plans and associated budgets to provide a shared vision of corporate goals and the ways of attaining them -- In collaboration with owner and with management approval
DISTRIBUTION
- Expand distribution network as necessary to achieve agreed flow through rate of company produced products.
- Identify markets and or distributors which will help in the achievement of sales and other corporate goals
- Continually strive to improve the quality of the distribution network
- Maintain productive distributors to effectively utilize our investment of time and support
- Be Willing to travel in support of the distribution network and in achieving programmed growth

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years industry and position experience preferred
- Strong sales and distribution management
- Negotiation skills
- Read, write, and speak English fluently
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data into operational plan
- Time management skills
- Ability to manage according to employment, safety, and health laws
- Valid Driver License
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other team members.
