Retail Wine Director (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Pike Road Wines is seeking a wine industry professional in the role of Retail Wine Director. This dynamic new brand was created by Elk Cove Vineyards in 2016. This leader will develop the brand while providing excellent customer service and building the direct to consumer business. In addition to overseeing the Tasting Room in Carton, they will work towards creating awareness of the brand in the marketplace (Portland/Wine Country) in an effort to drive traffic to the Tasting Room. 

Sales and Brand building
•  DTC – 70% of time, Brand building – 30%
•  Management of sales associated with Tasting Room, Wine Club and online shopping cart
•  Participate in creation of yearly goals and estimate future sales
•  Enthusiasm for selling and promoting wine club, determine monthly goals for membership
•  Wine Club processing and logistics associated with club fulfillment
•  Outreach to other tasting rooms, restaurants, wineries on a frequent basis to attract new customers 
•  Offsite tastings in retail locations throughout the valley, in conjunction with OR Distribution Sales Manager

Marketing and Events
•  Determining events that will provide brand exposure and build our business 
•  Partnerships with philanthropic organizations
•  Communications
•  Manage social media
•  Email correspondence
•  Website updates 
•  Updates to literature as needed including flight menus, club newsletters, and order forms

Strategic
•  Review existing programs and seek out new ideas and sales opportunities 
•  Utilize facility for more in depth tastings, private events
•  Staffing, hiring, coordinating schedule and training of sales staff 
•  Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions for improvements to the DTC program 
•  Participate in budgets, forecasting and estimated run out dates for wines

Logistics and Daily Operations
•  Inventory – tracking inventory via a monthly count
•  Troubleshoot winery software and learn all aspects of system set up, inclusive of product codes, ship compliant integration and ways to make order processing more efficient
•  Reports including payroll, wine used for samples, donations and trade purposes. 
•  Reports including all end of the month closeout
•  Order wine and establish par levels for in house shipping program 

Requirements
•  3+ years of wine sales experience
•  Ability to lift 40-50lbs on a regular basis and stand for multiple hours per day
•  Have a valid OLCC card
•  Over 21 years old, with reliable transportation
•  Problem solving skills
•  Ability to prioritize tasks, with a high attention to detail, in an ever changing environment
•  Work independently or in a team
•  Computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, WineDirect/Vin65, ability to use social media and email based software programs
•  Schedule – flexibility required, Tuesday to Saturday, with some full weekends required
