Job Summary:
The Venue Sommelier has an extensive knowledge of wine. He/She is responsible for advising and recommending wine to guests according to their personal wine needs, based upon taste, food and wine pairing, the occasion or the budget. He/She is also responsible for selecting wines, creating wine lists and managing stock, as well as providing staff training and driving and increasing wine sales through wine tastings, wine dinners and any type of wine events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Ensure staff follow wine service protocols
- Ensure sufficient training is provided to all staff regularly
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Ensure wine stock information is updated regularly and communicated to staff and venue management
- Ensure POS system is up to date with current stock and pricing
- Consult with event coordinator/guests on wine preferences for events
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure guest experience is of the highest standards. Floor presence and guest liaising is of great importance
- Ensure regular updating of wine lists in relation to stock, pricing and vintages
- Ensure standards of content are met in regard to wine list diversity of varietals, global brand recognition, and sufficient price level options
- Update market value of back vintage and rare wines in stock to reflect on our sales prices monthly
- Perform monthly inventory counts and provide financial reports to accounting
- Assist in receiving of deliveries, including container imports and warehouse stocking as needed

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years related experience required. WSET Level 3 or equivalent
- Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing and moving about the venue
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
Renumeration:
- Annual renumeration of USD74,000 Tax Free plus Commissions based on New Wines Event sales.
- Two Weeks Vacation per annum.
- All other benefits as per Cayman Islands Labour Law (Health, Pension, Time Off, Sick Days, Etc.).
