Position: Wine Sales Associate
Location: Burlington, VT
Purpose:
At Dedalus, the Wine Sales Associate is more than just a salesperson; they are deeply informed wine guides, weaving tales and curating experiences that not only introduce patrons to our exceptional wine selections but also ignite a delirious loyalty. Their expertise and passion in storytelling ensures that customers are so delighted and immersed in the Dedalus experience, they couldn't fathom shopping elsewhere. Through our proven sales process, they lead customers on a transformative wine journey, making Dedalus the undisputed heart of wine culture and enchantment.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Customer Engagement: Develop a genuine rapport with every customer who walks through our door, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued, and understood.
2. Customer Learning: Ask open-ended questions to discern customer needs, preferences, and past wine experiences. Dive deep into what our patrons seek, whether they articulate it or not.
3. Storytelling: Communicate the narrative behind each wine, intertwining tales of its origin, the artisans behind it, and your personal experiences with it.
4. Basket Building: Guide customers in their wine selections by suggesting complementary wines and food items to elevate their experience.
5. Sales Closure: Seamlessly lead customers through the checkout process, ensuring their questions are answered and their wine experience promises to be memorable.
6. Follow-up: Engage in post-purchase interactions, ensuring our customers are satisfied and their wine tales continue to evolve.
7. Proven Sales Process: Actively participate and excel in our proven sales process, encompassing engagement, learning, storytelling, basket building, sales closure, and follow-up.
8. Environmental Upkeep: Participate in maintaining a well-stocked, well merchandised, clean environment from the store-front through the stockrooms and warehouse.
Key Requirements:
- Solid background in wine, ideally in a wine-forward restaurant or wine retail setting.
- Ongoing coursework or certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET Level III or higher.
- Passion for wine and a fervor to pursue it as a fulfilling, long-term career.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortability in appearing in marketing content
- Participation in omnichannel sales activity such as Customer Chat and Customer Service Sessions.
- Comfort sharing wine opinions and facts both online, in-store on shelf talkers, at wine tastings, classes and seminars.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate customers on wine in an approachable manner.
- A firm belief in Sales As A Service and the importance of every individual story.
- Proficiency with communication platforms such as Slack, Asana, Notion and email.
- Comfort in using POS systems and analyzing sales data to better comprehend and cater to customer needs and preferences.

Compensation: $20 - $23 per hour + SPIFFS and Sales Incentives.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
