Cellar Worker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Description:
Crown Valley Winery is seeking a Cellar Worker at its facility located in Ste. Genevieve, MO.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under moderate supervision, performs basic, routine Cellar and Barrel Room tasks including but not limited to:

• Responsible for the proper set up, use, sanitation and care of all cellar equipment
• Basic wine movements - empty and fill tanks and barrels, top barrels, transfer wine, load and unload tanker trucks, etc

• Make additions to juice and wine as required
• Operate equipment such as pumps, plate and frame filter, cross flow filter, lees filter and crush equipment

• Measure and calculate routine workplace data.
• Safety-follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety
• Forklift operations with barrels and case goods
• Assist with counting inventory

• Routine work on our GAI bottling line including set-up, sanitation and clean-up
• Follow and observe all safety guidelines for cellar operations
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications:
• Ability to operate the forklift, machinery, meters and hand tools
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations to complete written work orders
• Ability to work outdoors/indoors, in both a warm and cold climate
• Ability to climb stairs and work in high places
• Must be team oriented, reliable and have a positive work ethic
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including swing and night shift; as well as long hours at harvest

• Prior cellar work experience a plus


Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Good written and verbal communication skills, basic math abilities, flexibility, good judgment, commitment to the job, quality oriented, positive attitude, self-starter

 


Prior Experience:

• 1-3 years cellar experience preferred

 


Physical Requirements:

• Working conditions in the winery may be cold, wet, slippery and noisy

• Must be able to lift, pull and carry up to 50lbs on a repetitive basis

• Will handle hazardous materials

• Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, dragging wine hoses and bending is required

• Ability to work long periods while standing

 

Communication Skill:

• Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors


Attendance/Schedule:

• Must have flexibility with scheduling.  Will require occasional overtime and weekend work during harvest and as needed
